What is Fred Meyer Community Rewards?
It is the latest addition to the Fred Meyer Rewards Program where you can earn donations for your favorite nonprofit just by shopping with your Rewards Card. Fred Meyer will donate $2.6 million to nonprofits in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington every year through this new program. Here’s how it works:
- Link your Rewards Card to your favorite nonprofit, just log in to your online account.
- Whenever you use your Rewards Card when shopping at Freddy’s, you’ll be helping the nonprofit linked to your Rewards Card earn a donation from Fred Meyer.
- At the end of each quarter, Fred Meyer will make a donation to participating nonprofits based on the accumulated spending of the Rewards Customers linked to each nonprofit.
- Fred Meyer will donate $650,000 each quarter via Community Rewards!
Why is Fred Meyer moving to Community Rewards?
For years, the decision about which organizations Fred Meyer supported rested with a small group of employees. It wasn’t transparent, nor was it necessarily the best thing for our communities. Now you can tell us where to donate our money! You can link your Rewards Cards to the nonprofit you believe is doing the most good in your community, and we’ll direct donations to those organizations.
How do I link my Rewards Card to a nonprofit?
You can link your Rewards Card online, just log in or create an online account. At that point you will be able to search for your nonprofit. This is an ongoing program and you may enroll at any time.

Applications for Rewards Cards are available at all registers or the Customer Service Desk at any Fred Meyer store.
How much can an organization earn?
Every time you shop with your linked Rewards Card at Fred Meyer, you’re helping your favorite nonprofit earn a donation. And the more supporters who link their Rewards Cards to a nonprofit, the more that nonprofit could earn.
- Fred Meyer will award a total of $650,000 each quarter to eligible participating organizations.
- The minimum quarterly payout is $25 per organization. If an organization earns less than $25 in a quarter, Fred Meyer will hold the amount until the donation exceeds $25 or the end of the year, whichever is first.
How will I know how much I am contributing to my organization?
You can view your Community Rewards contribution, just log in or create an online account. If you want to learn how much your favorite nonprofit has been awarded from Fred Meyer, you’ll need to check with that nonprofit.
When does the program start?
You can link your Rewards Card to the nonprofit of your choice at any time. Each time you shop at Fred Meyer with your Rewards Card, your shopping will be helping accrue donations for the nonprofit to which you’ve linked your card.
How often will the organizations receive donations?
Organizations will receive Community Rewards donation checks within 90 days of the close of each quarter. Quarters end on March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31.
Not all purchases are eligible for Community Rewards.
Those exclusions are:
- Prescriptions
- Fred Meyer Gift Cards and Kroger Co. Family of Stores Gift Cards
- Green Dot Prepaid Reloadable Products
- Bottle deposits
- Jewelry purchases
- Lottery tickets and promotional tickets
- Money Orders
- Western Union
- Fuel
- Sales tax
- Tobacco
- Postage stamps
- Transit passes
- Fees
- Game licenses
- Phone activation
- Visa, MasterCard and American Express gift cards and financial variable load gift cards

Remember – you can always change your designation.
